Here is a replica of the compound found in the TV series MASH. It took me about 6 months to make, doing a little at a time. You really have to see it in person to appreciate the finer details. It was modeled after the set used in the mountains of California. The Fox studios set that was used was arranged differently in order to fit the tents needed to film. Most everything you see was made from materials I found around the house except for a few things bought at a hobby shop. I was going to make all the action figures as well, but ran out of time. I also started to make unique objects that could be seen only from certain episodes like Col. Blakes 100 year old antique desk, the unexploded bomb in the middle of the compound and of course 5 O Clock charlie and the 04WW NUG that was used in attempt to shoot him down. So far I have only made the desk which can be seen next to the hospital (until i can find a better spot for it.)I made the helicopter above from scratch (minus the canopy) since I couldnt find one to the scale I used to build the compound. In fact, the detail that I wanted originally was such that this project would have taken me at least a year to complete, but because of my schedule I ended up throwing it together rather quickly. I had thought about trying to market these for the hard core fans or even make boxes of other popular TV shows, but it seemed like a nightmare to get the rights, permission, etc. For now it will just remain a fun hobby.
